1 on every 8 women in the Netherlands is going to be confronted with breastcancer. In the group of women between 30 and 59, it’s the number one cause of death. November 2011, breastcancer was diagnosed by Babet, a woman of 44 years old, mother of Steven and Cees, her three months old baby.

Becoming a mother and then hear that there is the possibility that you are going to die soon. To hear that the breastcancer is boosted by the same pregnancy that gave you a son. To hear that it is uncertain if you are going to celebrate your son’s first birthday.
There is no greater contrast thinkable. Being happy with your baby, unsure and afraid off having a future together.
The period between the first suspicion, diagnose and surgery is a difficult one. The world becomes smaller and smaller. Uncertainty about , and fear for the future defines your life.
All what remains is survival, physically and mentally.
