The seeming of Hillegom

David Vroom

Hillegom is a typical Dutch village within easy reach of Schiphol. At first sight there is not happening a lot, daily life passes imperceptibly. But appearances are deceptive.
Surely anything happens in Hillegom: the local gossip, the stories those used to be and the complaining about kids hanging around or neighbours.
In the unperceived humdrum are special stories. This small struggle of the humdrum struck me immensely. I am staggered how reality is perceived by two sides, that both have their own way to give colour to the boredom of village-life.
